Security & Compliance

Atlassian Cloud sites enforce the following security standards:

  • SSL by default and are hosted on a secure hosting facility
  • TSL

Administration

Because Atlassian Cloud products are installed and configured for you, the System Administrator role has a unique set of permissions and management capabilities on the cloud. 

  • Site-admins are the users who manage a site. The following permissions are currently available to site-admins:

    • All permissions assigned to the 'administrators' group for the product(s) you have
    • Access to user management (ability to create new users, assign users to groups, grant product access, etc.)
    • Access to billing information

Users with this set of permissions are considered site administrators for documentation and Support purposes, and they have access to all the products in the site. For more information on administration and how to manage roles or groups in Atlassian Cloud, refer to our Manage groups documentation.

User Management

You can manage users and groups in Atlassian Cloud from a central user management portal. For details on the various user and group management functionality in Atlassian Cloud, refer to the Managing users and groups and Atlassian Cloud collaboration basics articles.

Atlassian Cloud also has the following options to help improve or expand upon your user management capabilities in the cloud.

  • G Suite integration - You can integrate your existing G Suite user directory with your Atlassian Cloud site. For more information, check out the Security with G Suite  article.

Administration

Administrators on our Server products have full access to the database and support the infrastructure, Atlassian products and user community, and are responsible for any other tasks that may encompass an organization's Server Admin role.

User Management

Atlassian Server user management can be handled by the system administrator in a variety of ways: via each server product, through Jira, or by connecting to Crowd. For more information, refer to the User management article.

Licensing

  • Perpetual licensing.
    • Atlassian Server software licenses entitle you to 12 months of maintenance beginning on the date of purchase. After 12 months, you can keep up your maintenance for 50% of your license fee.
  • Annual-only payment plan.
  • Pay by check, bank transfer/ACH, or credit/debit card.

Things to consider before moving to Atlassian Cloud

Still wondering whether to move to the cloud or use our server products? Here are some other things to consider before finalizing your decision.

  • User Count - Currently, user count on Atlassian Cloud is limited to 5,000 users.
  • Custom domain name(s) - Atlassian provides cloud subscribers with a secure, authenticated domain name. Your cloud site is available at https://<domain_name>.atlassian.net, where <domain_name> is a unique word that you specify when signing up for Atlassian Cloud. Note: Choose wisely, because your cloud domain name cannot be changed after your cloud site is created.
  • Reliability - Our cloud offerings are reliable with 99.95% uptime. You can check out the status of Atlassian Cloud products and other Atlassian systems on our Systems Status page
  • Themes - On Atlassian Cloud, Confluence uses a custom theme, which cannot be modified or updated using custom HTML (not supported). For more information on custom themes in Confluence Cloud, refer to Working with Themes
  • Languages - Atlassian Cloud products and apps are currently available in 22 languages. See our Languages page for a complete list of the languages that are currently available. Note: We are always working to provide more languages across our software products and apps.
